Who is CM8?

Christian Miranda

Christian Miranda was a remarkable soccer player, a cherished friend, a dedicated coach, caring brother and loving son. In soccer, he loved playing any part in the midfield, but he particularly loved playing the number 8 (position).

Christian’s life revolved around playing soccer. Beginning at 7 years old, he played AYSO, then eventually club soccer, high school soccer, and continued to spread his love for the game as a high school coach. He was dedicated to teaching his players everything he knew, making them the best he possibly could, and ultimately helping them love soccer just as much as he did. Although it could be said he loved that experience just as much as playing, perhaps it’s only because he was able to coach alongside one of his best friends.

Throughout Christian’s life, he often sought out more opportunities to play soccer in his free time so he would join Sunday leagues and gather friends together to make an indoor soccer team to join other local leagues. Soon enough, his teammates became lifelong friends; they became brothers. Usually, it takes people years to find the type of friends Christian had. But he was lucky enough to find them so early on in his life and he knew that.

However, at 20 years old, Christian tragically passed in a car accident. During the Miranda family’s time of grief, an outpouring of support flooded in from his soccer community. Former teammates, families of players he coached, and friends were pillars the family leaned on, feeling the tremendous love they had for Christian.

While Christian has taught us many things, there is one lesson as a foundation we hold close to our hearts; family isn’t merely blood. Family can be found all around, even in the most unexpected places. Christian found his second family in playing soccer.

In finding this, he became a true testament of how soccer is more than just a sport; it’s love, support, and genuine friendship.
